.

.

Approval of this project over the objections of the neighbors most affected by it would
set a bad precedent. In the past, the city has respected the rights of neighbors impacted by
building projects. There is a case in point. The Zuniga Family planned an addition on
their Gloria Court home. One of their neighbors objected to the visibility of the structure
and the city mandated revisions. In response, the Zunigas lowered the elevation of the
remodel by 12 feet. They did so by digging down into the earth to lower the base and also
revised plans to lower the overall elevation at a cost of tens of thousands of dollars. They
did so to address the concerns of one neighbor and at the behest of the city. You can
imagine the Zunigas are watching our case closely wondering if they were unjustly
treated. In addition, nothing has been offered by the architect or the Knights in the way of
downsizing what is a monster project more than doubling the square footage of the
current structure. That is way out of line with what the original builders intended within
the context of our neighborhood and specifically our location. It pushes the limit for
building size within their lot. And certainly, the original builders never intended within
the neighborhood's terraced setup, to have a two-story looking back, towering over the
one-story home behind it. Approval of this project, in our view, would set a terrible
precedent. At our preliminary hearing, Stacey Knight told us bluntly that we had better
get used to projects like their's because that's the way Pleasanton is going. That is not the
Pleasanton we know. That is not the Pleasanton we want and we believe that is not the
Pleasanton most people want.
'-So we ask the city to reject this project, or eliminate or at the very least downsize the
second-story aspect of the remodel and remove the windows from their perch looking
into our home, looking into our lives.

Sincerely,

Dennis and Barbara Georgatos, 790 East Angela St., Pleasanton, delivered at March 9
Zoning Administration hearing before Donna Decker, principal planner.
