GP-82-8, City of Pleasanton
Review of draft revised Housing Element of the General Plan of
the City of Pleasanton formulated pursuant to State Government Code
Section 65583 and State Housing Element Guidelines. The purpose
of the revised element is to evaluate existing and projected com-
munity housing needs and to offer a workable housing program to meet
said needs. The Planning Commission may approve, modify or deny
the application or recommend to the City Council any action deemed
in the public interest. A negative declaration of environmental
impacts was also considered.
Mr. Harris presented the staff report stating that Tom Passanisi
of the planning staff would like to give a short presentation and
answer any questions.
Commissioner Getty said the report is fascinating, she has read it
all and enjoyed it.
Tom Passanisi, described the proposed changes over the other Element.
Commissioner Wilson spoke to the 25~ multiples and 75~ single-
family and indicated he thought he had proposed a change to this
figure. Commissioner Getty said this was discussed some time ago.
Mr. Harris said the general plan map reflects a 25~-75o ratio.
The public hearing was opened.
Mike Parsons presented a letter concerning the Element. He said the
staff has done a good job. Commissioner Doherty addressed item
number two of Mr. Parson's letter.
Mr. Parsons explained there was a referendum as required by law
appropriating 150 units and 50 have been used.
Mr. Parsons said the housing authority currently has its hands full
with Arroyo Vista, however, they have been working with the Chamber
of Commerce, non-profit housing corporation to do something in
Pleasanton for low income housing.
Commissioner Wilson asked Mr. Parsons if he agreed with the "Affordable
Housing" concept. Mr. Parsons said he did not like this wording as
it is not clearly defined.
The public hearing was closed.
A motion was made by Commissioner Getty, seconded by Commissioner
Doherty that the negative declaration prepared for case GP-82-8
be recommended for adoption inasmuch as approval of the draft
Housing Element will have no significant adverse effect on the
environment.
-27-
