We do not need another Home Depot in
Pleasanton, and we certainly do not need one located so far away from the freeway and so close to our
residential neighborhood. We have no objection to the other smaller retail stores being proposed as they would
benefit the neighborhood; however, the Home Depot would not benefit the neighborhood in any way, shape or
form. It would be a very inappropriate placement of such a mammoth store. Residents should not have to live a
single block away from such a huge store. Home Depot is mostly visited by contractors during the daytime. There
would be so many huge trucks driven by these people during the daytime to visit the store. So much additional.
dangerous traffic added to our streets... one block away from residents! We do not want it and it is not appropriate
for our neighborhood, or even the city in general.
If we MUST put up with the additional traffic that is created by populating that location with mini-mall stores, at
least put something there that the neighborhood can use, such as an upscale grocery store (like Whole Foods or
Lunardis). I know Mayer Hostermann is especially fond of the union workers at Safeway, but it's not about her and
what she wants... it's about what we (and our neighbors) want and will find useful to the neighborhood. There are
so many other retail stores that could be placed at that location -- PLEASE ALLOW A MORE APPROPRIATE
STORE to occupy the space -- WE DON'T WANT OR NEED A HOME DEPOT IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
Thank you for your time. Please pass along our comments to the Mayor and the City Council
Sincerely,
Matthew & Donna Walker
462 Tioga Court
Pleasanton, CA 94566
~/ 10!2007
