To the Honorable Mayor, Members of the
City Council, and City Manager
City of Pleasanton
P1 easanton, California

We have examined the general purpose financial statements of the City of
Pleasanton, California as of and for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1986 as
listed in the table of contents. Our examination was made in accordance with
generally accepted auditing standards and, accordingly, included such tests of
the accounting records and such other auditing procedures as we considered
necessary in the circumstances.

The general purpose financial statements referred to above do not include
financial activities of the Housing Authority of the City of Pleasanton, which
should be included to conform with generally accepted accounting principles.
If the omitted component unit had been included, the assets and revenues of the
enterprise fund type would have been increased by $11,389,955 and $707,884,
respectively, there would have been an excess of revenues over expenditures in
that fund type for the year of $2,583,122, and the enterprise fund balance
would have been $10,261,726.

In our opinion, except for the effects on the financial statements of the
omission described in the preceding paragraph, the general purpose financial
statements referred to above present fairly the financial position of the City
of Pleasanton, California at June 30, 1986 and the results of its operations
and changes in financial position of its proprietary fund types for the year
then ended, in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles applied
on a basis consistent with that of the preceding year.

CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS

January 12, 1987
P1 easanton, CA.

5690 Sonoma Drive, P.O.
