(8) Dynamic Flow Interconnect. It shall be possible to simulate
ynamic ow in erconnec operation, or a functionally equivalent
mode of operation, as described in these Specifications.
(9) Optimization. If, during coordinated operation, any of the
su systems ave cycle lengths that fall within a certain range of
each other, each subsystem with a shorter cycle length shall be
optimized by having i is cycl e 1 ength made equal to the 1 orger cycl e
length. The subsystem synchronization timing pulses shat 1 also
coincide. The optimization range shall be programmable by the
operator from 0 to 255 seconds in 1 second increments. If the
range is set to 0 seconds, the optimization program shall be
effectively disabled.
(10) Coordinated Extension. It shall be possible to omit service on
se ect p aces, ter y extending phases already being serviced,
without altering the position of the sync phase in relatio n to the
subsystem background cycle. If programmed, vehicle and pedestrian
permissive call periods shall limit that portion of the subsystem
background cycle during which the controller may commit to service
the next phase in sequential order. If no demand is registered
before or during the permissive period for the phase normally
following the current phase, the current phase shall remain in
service until a demand is registered for a phase before or during
its permissive period.
(11) Max Recal 1 Selection. It shat 1 be possi bl a to recal 1 to maximum
any or a p ases.
(12) Flashing Operation. It shall be possible to flash signals as
preset a oca con roller.
It shall be possible to set the day of the week, month, day of the
month, year, hour and minute through the hard copy terminal or the
portable terminal and keyboard. The day of the week and day of the
month shall be increm ented at midnight and the day of the week
shall be reset to st art after the seventh day. The time of day
shall be displayed on the basis of a 24-hour clock with digital
readout. Digit height shall be at le ast 1/2 inch; width shall be
proportional.
The on-line master computer shall have control capabilities of up
to 16 independent subsystems and 128 cycle lengths. It shall be
possible for the operator to list, set, and change all subsystem
parameters. Up to 256 each Time Interval Routines, 128 each
12-detector Calculation Routines, 128 each Level Selection
Routines, and 128 each Timing Pattern Routines shall be available
for programming the subsystems. The Time Interval Routine shall
select the day, minute and hour to assign Calculation Routines to a
particular subsystem or preempt directly to a timing pattern. It
shall be responsive Calculation Routines or any one time of day
preempt shall be associated with a subsystem a particular time.
Using a Timing Pattern Routine, it shall be possible to designate
-9-
