Project No. 9929.G Response to Peer Review/1b30 Vineyard Ave., Pleasanton, CA ]2 March 2007
underlying colluvium will be removed to stable material, a subdrain be constructed within the
axis of the swale feature, and the area backfilled with engineered fill as recommended in
reference 1 and Figure 7 of reference 1.
Seismic Considerations
The site is not located within an AP zone, but is located within a Seismic Hazard Zone {DMG,
1997). A Seismic Hazazd Zone is defined as an area susceptible to strong ground shaking
generated by an earthquake (generally considered within 10 km of an active fault). Other faults
located within a 50 krn radius of the site are shown on Table 1, based on the EQFAULT
computer program by Thomas Blake.
Table 1
Earthquake Fault Zone Data
* Maximum credible earthquake
Ground shaking is a complex concept related to velocity, amplitude, and duration of earthquake
vibrations. Damage from ground shaking is caused by the transmission of earthquake vibrations
from the ground to the structure. The most destructive effects of an earthquake are usually seen
