Project No. 9929.G Geotechnical Investigation/Vineyard Avenue, Pleasanton S August 2003
Geology [DMG], 1994), while the Calaveras Fault is listed as an active strike-slip fault with
right-lateral motion.
The site is not located within an AP zone, but is located within a Seismic Hazard Zone (DMG,
1997). A Seismic Hazard Zone is defined as an area susceptible to strong ground shaking
generated by an earthquake (generally considered within 10 km of an active fault). Other faults
located within a 50 km radius of the site are shown on Table 1, based on the EQFAULT
computer program by Thomas Blake.
Table 1
Earthquake Fault Zone Data
.,h~
~~
Verona Thrust 3.5 6.5
Calaveras Strike-Slip 7 6.9
Hayward Strike-Slip 14 7.1
Great Valley 6 Blind Thrust 20 6.7
Concord -Green Valley Strike-Slip 29 6.9
Great Valley 5 Blind Thrust 44 6.5
Monte Vista -Shannon Thrust 46 6.8
San Andreas (peninsula) Strike-Slip ~ 46 7.1
San Andreas (1906) Strike-Slip 46 7.9
San Andreas (Santa Cruz Strike-Slip 55 7.0
Mountains)
Site Geology
A TERRASEARCH, inc. California Certified Engineering Geologist stereoscopically examined
two stereo pairs of aerial photographs and visited the site to evaluate if the questionably mapped
landslide mapped by Majmundar (1991) is present on the subject property. Based on our review
and reconnaissance of the site, the larger landslide was not identified as mapped by Majmundar
(1991). However, older dormant landslide features or colluvium areas were observed on some of
the steeper slopes and within swale areas
A number of smaller dormant landslides were
TERRASEARCH, inc.
