American with Disabilities Act Expenditures
At its meeting of May 6, 2008, the Council requested information regarding CIP projects
that will address outstanding accessibility issues. As indicated at the time, while the CIP
is one source of funding that addresses this issue, the City Facilities Renovation Fund
includes $50,000 annually for ADA compliance projects. In addition, major renovation
and expansion projects, such at the Firehouse Arts Theater and Phase 1 of the Bernal
Community Park, will enhance accessibility to City facilities. The following projects are
included in the Mid-Term CIP:
TABLE XI
AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES (ADA) RELATED PROJECTS INCLUDED IN THE MID-TERM CIP
2008-092009-102010-11 Total
Annual Sidewalk and Intersection
Ramp Installations $170,000$170,000$170,000 $510,000
Americans with Disability Act
Sidewalk/ Ramp Assessment $100,000$0$0$100,000
Valley Avenue - Construction of
Separated Pedestrian and Bicycle
Path between Case Ave., and
Sunol Blvd. $85,000$0$0$85,000
123 Main Street Interior Upgrades
-Design Only (Design will address
modification to entry doors to
improve access.) $25,000$0$0$25,000
TOTAL$380,000$170,000$170,000 $720,000
CONCLUSION
As previously indicated, this Mid-Term update is intended to provide the City Council
and the community with a comprehensive review of the City’s capital plan for the next
three fiscal years. When reviewing this budget, it should be remembered that projected
revenues are contingent upon activities of the private sector development community
and other governmental agencies that are outside the control of the City. As a result,
changes to assumptions included in the CIP are possible. Changes in revenue
projections and/or project priorities may result in modifications to this program in
upcoming fiscal years. However, as presented, this program identifies available
revenues and expenditures in an effort to assure that projects are provided to meet
community needs and expectations.
Attachments to Section II:
A: Summary Financial Sheets
B: New Project Descriptions Sheets
ëê
