EARTH GROUP <br />APPENDIX B: LABORATORY TEST PROGRAM <br />The laboratory testing program was performed to evaluate the physical and mechanical <br />properties of the soils retrieved from the site to aid in verifying soil classification. <br />Moisture Content <br />The natural water content was determined (ASTM D2216) on 34 samples of the materials <br />recovered from the borings. These water contents are recorded on the boring logs at the <br />appropriate sample depths. <br />Dry Densities <br />In place dry density determinations (ASTM D2937) were performed on 23 samples to measure <br />the unit weight of the subsurface soils. Results of these tests are shown on the boring logs at <br />the appropriate sample depths. <br />Washed Sieve Analyses <br />The percent soil fraction passing the No. 200 sieve (ASTM D1140) was determined on two <br />samples of the subsurface soils to aid in the classification of these soils. Results of these tests <br />are shown on the boring logs at the appropriate sample depths. <br />Triaxial Undrained Unconsolidated Shear Strength: The undrained shear strength was <br />determined on four samples collected from Boring EB-1 by undrained unconsolidated triaxial <br />t shear strength testing.
