Steve Otto
From: Kent H. Pryor
Sent: Tuesday, July 08, 2008 12:34 PM
To: Steve Otto; Mary Lu Campbell
Cc: Alice Pryor,
Subject: We oppose PUD-74 off Busch Road
Planning Commission and Planning Department:
My wife Alice and I oppose any development in Southeast Pleasanton without mitigating the current traffic delays.
Therefore, at the current time, we must oppose PUD-74 for 110 homes on Reimers Drive near Busch Road. We
will attend tomorrow's hearing to team more details, hopefully including traffic analysis showing a better situation
than predicted for the recent Home Depot proposal.
We share the concems of the residents off of Valley Avenue, which will take the primary load for this housing
proposal. We share the often-stated concerns for the long delays at Valley/StanleylBemal, which largely consists
of Livermore-bound commuters cutting through Pleasanton. Please work more closely with otherjurisdictions on
these regional problems. Specifically, while Pleasanton and Livermore are carving up the sales tax and property
tax revenue from freeway commercial development at the North end of EI Chan'o Road, please commit to a plan
to extend EI Charro Road over Arroyo Del Valle at its South end. This will improve access to the Ruby Hill area
and move its commuters (and Livermore's) off of Santa Rita Road and Valley Avenue.
In addition to these concerns for the North side of Stanley, IeYs take a better look at the South side. We believe
the project will further increase traffic in front of our house on Bernal, as the Home Depot project would have
done. These are many other residences facing Bernal. The curtent bridge widening, if it does shorten any waiting
times, will also invite more traffic to use the Bemal loop and pass in front of these houses. But the bridge widening
may not decrease waits because of the narrowertwo-lane roads of Bemal and Vineyard. We would have
preferred to spend this money on an EI Charro bridge.
Thank you for reading this and for the hearing notice.
Kent H. Pryor
3425 Bernal Avenue
