PUD-74 Environmental Checklist
Discussion
a) The project is located on a vacant, treeless pazcel surrounded by urban development and
former quarries. There are no known archaeological or paleontological sites on the
subject site. There aze no existing streams, lakes, or other water body/course on the
subject property. There were no rare, endangered, or threatened species of flora or fauna
found to inhabit the subject property. As noted earlier in this document, the site is
considered to be potential foraging habitat area for three special status species, but the
development of the site would, at most, result in a relatively small reduction of foraging
habitat for three of these species. In addifion, similaz habitat, as well as more suitable
foraging habitat are regionally abundant for these three species and the loss of foraging
habitat for these three species would be considered less than significant. The site is also
potential habitat for the burrowing owl, although there were no burrowing owls or
indirect burrowing owl evidence found on the site. In order to avoid possible impacts to
burrowing owls (should they occur on site at sometime in the future before the beginning
of construction), a condition of the project approval will ensure that the owls are not
harmed or injured during construction. Therefore, the project will have a less-than-
significant-impact on biological and cultural resources.
b) Constructing this project will incrementally increase impacts to certain environmental
factors, but the increases would not be cumulatively considerable. Therefore, this would
be a less-than-significant-impact.
c) The project will not include any activities or uses causing substantial adverse effects on
human beings either directly or indirectly or on the environment. The project has been
designed to meet the general development standards required by the City of Pleasanton
and will incorporate conditions of approval to meet local codes and regulations. The
project design and conditions of approval reduces potential impacts to a less-than-
significant-impact. .
Endnotes
California Department of Conservation, Division of Land Resource Protection
Alameda County, Pleasanton, Important Farmland, 2003
zTraffic Study for the Proposed Ironwood Active Adult Community in the City of Pleasanton, by
TJKIVI Transportation Consultants, dated May 29, 2008
3Geotechnical Investigation, Ponderosa Active Adult Community, by Cornerstone Earth Group,
dated January 21, 2008
4Califomia Division of Mines and Geology Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zone Map, Dublin
Quadrangle,
38
