This is IT what we agreed to ! Many of you in our community worked with members of the City Council, including
Jennifer Hosterman, to come up with the Staples Punch MOO Memorandum of Understanding). Now, Scott Haggerty is
pressuring Pleasanton in an attempt to circumvent the 11 OU agreement which stipulates an EVA (Emergency Vehicle
Access) only connection to El Charro.
Please plan to attend the City council meeting on Tuesday February 3rd and / or email the City Council with your thoughts
on the matter!
John Carroll
Hopefully I got the most important points covered above! For those interested in more, please scroll below for further
discussion and
suggestions. I know it is difficult to read a long email - so just scroll
down to areas that interest you and pick a couple of points that you might
want to share with the City Council. Thank you !
A Action: email the City Council: mayorandcitycouncil @ci.pleasanton.ca.us
B Questions need to be answered, well before a decision can be made
Building the SDE before Pleasanton has Regional roadmap is inept
D Environmentalists: oppose the Staples Punch EIR approval until the Ice Rink is relocated away from the Arroyo
llocho
B Questions
So is upervisor Haggerty's OFFER a good deal for Pleasanton ? How
excited would you be if someone offered to pay for the knife that will be
used to slit your throat ? Yeah - somehow I can't get too excited about
that prospect either l
According to the Staples Punch MOO which party was supposed to pay for items
13 above? Don't Developers typically pay for the infrastructure costs?
Which party (City, County, Hendrick Automotive, CLC, Fremont !sand) or parties will be paging for the first bridge across
the Arroyo llocho ?
Was the City of Pleasanton really planning on bearing all of these costs ?
Just exactly how was the City of Pleasanton planning on paging for it all ?
I mean do we have all this money set aside in a special fund devoted for the
above projects ? We need an honest assessment of the value of Scott
Haggerty's proposal f
Let's assume for just a moment that we believe the propaganda that all of these costs were supposed to be paid for by the
City of Pleasanton. Sure I
With this assumption, the OFFER would represent a considerable savings or
shall we say, reduction to expenses) to the city. I am not sure how many
millions of dollars it would cost but l have heard 7 to 15 million for the road & bridge construction.
So is this SUCH A GREAT offer that Pleasanton would be crazy to pass it up?
Some analysis tells us No! 1 Why would Pleasanton ever consider building
a second bridge over the Arroyo Mocho ? There would be No reason for
Pleasanton to build additional capacity to accommodate local Pleasanton traffic. The ONLY reason to build more capacity
would be to provide traffic
relief on our local freeways ! So please, keep your second bridge !
As for and 1 million dollars in offsite traffic impacts, these expenses should be paid for by the parties interested in
developing Staples Punch. If Alameda County pays for these costs, then would this not represent a windfall to the
developers ?
Or should Pleasanton SAVE all the EXPENSE and simply not develop the land ?
Do we need a massive auto mall with so many car dealerships failing ?
Do we need a massive four r i n k ice facility with the economy in trouble ?
