Pleasanton has not been immune to the skyrocketing housing prices
of the San Francisco Bay Area, which today is one of the most
expensive housing markets in the nation. Currently, the average
home in Pleasanton sells for $113,000, a 300% increase over the

1969 average price of $36,000. Due to the diversity of Pleasanton's
housing stock (by age, square footage, and location), housing costs
fall within a wide range of the average. Table 10 gives the results
of a recent local survey.

TABLE 10

PRICES FOR LOCALLY ADVERTISED FOR-SALE HOUSING

PLEASANTON: JUNE - JULY 1982

MEAN COST

TOTAL MEAN COST

2 bedrooms $ 85,000
3 bedrooms 114,500
4 bedrooms 140,000

$113,166

RANGES

2 bedrooms
3 bedrooms
4 bedrooms

$ 81,000 - 92,000
88,000 - 150,000
96,500 - 186,500

Sources:

Classified sections
Pleasanton Times
Tri-Valley Herald

-67-
