LAND

There are 28,000 acres of land within the Pleasanton planning
area. Of the total 28,000 acres there are about 5,000 acres
of land under three residential land use designations: low,
medium and high density. Within the area most likely to
develop prior to 1996, however, there are 2,295 acres of vacant
or underutilized residential land and, thus, suitable for
development over the next fifteen years (see Figures 5 through 2).
Under the City's existing land use, growth management, and
housing policies, these 2,295 acres should provide a reasonable
area for development over the next five years as well as the
remaining life of the General Plan.

Table 13 illustrates how those 2,295 acres may develop in terms
of potential dwelling units during the planning period in accord
with City policies. The assumptions of this table are listed

in the footnotes.

-71-
