Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program N. Visual ReSOUrees
Page 94
VISUAL RESOURCES
Mitigation Measure: Nla. Avoid placement o(opaque anise bamers along I-680.
Impact to be Mitigated: Project development, including barriers to mitigate freeway-related noise,
would reduce visibiliTy into and beyond the site and diminish the "green
vista' currently available tiom 1-680 northbound and southbound through
the site.
Agency/Individual
Responsible for
Implementation: Site developer
Implementation Timing: Incorporate specifications for noise barriers in the Specific Plan
Install noise bartiers during grading or prior to construction of occupied
uses.
Mitigation Specifications: Noise barriers specified in [he Augusk 200D Specific Plan for the west
side of I-680 are designed as a combination of beans and soundwalls that
balance noise reduction objectives and the aesthetic effects of noise
reduction features. PUD Condition 67 provides additional detailed
requirements for the soundberms and soundwalls on I-680.
On the west side of I-680, close-range views into the site as well as long-
range views toward Pleasanton Ridge would still be available from the 1-
660 overcrossings of Bemal Avenue and the UPRR tracks at the north and
south ends, respectively, of the West Parcel. Re[wccn [hose points, views
into [hc site would diminish (because the elevation of the freeway drops)
but views to Pleasanton Ridge would still be available. The berm would
obscure Pleasanton Ridge below the approximate elevation of the highest
houses in the Golden Eagle Farms subdivision. PUD Condition 67
provides additional detailed requirements for [he I-680 soundberms, and
soundwalls, and the UPRR soundwalls.
On the east side of 1-660, the August, 2000 Specific Plan proposes a
soundbctm for Alternative CI (which sites residential units south of the
Commercial /Office Development)., and views into and beyond the site
would obscure some views of Pleasanton Ridge looking from the east.
AgencyQndividual
Responsible for
Monitoring: City of Pleasanton, Planning Department
