District, requesting permission to connect to water and sewer lines from their 1.
IL
office to be located at the Sewer Farm. Engineer Goodridge is to be asked to check ti
the grade in front of the subdivision.
Engineer Goodridge will also be asked to'check the grade on Main Street so that the
double curb may be eliminated, and thereby facilitate parallel parking. Mayor
Trimingham reported that the Chamber of Commerce had expressed the opinion that if
parallel parking would prove to be a safety factor for the Town, such a program
should be adopted.
Mr. Monaco and Mr. Wolfenberger, on Bernal Avenue, have installed curbs and gutters.
They request permission of the Council to remove one large tree which will even-
tually break their sidewalks, when installed, and to replace it with a young tree.
They also report that the last tree on the property of the Veterans' Building lot is
breaking the sidewalk. There is a variation of width of sidewalks on this street,-
and Mr. Monaco and Mr. Wolfenberger enquired the specified width of Town sidewalks.
Councilman Cairo was asked to tell them to meet the width of the existing sidewalk.
Mr. Oxsen reported that the bank abutting Kottinger Avenue is 470' long. °A 2 foot
curb, 300 feet long, in front of this bank would prevent mud from. overflowing the
street, if the bank is sloped back for its entire length. Mr. Oxsen was asked to
secure a quotation for this work from McCammon Wunderlich.
Mayor Trimingham reported that, on checking back records, he had ascertained that it
had teen the policy. of previous Councils to maintain the upkeep of the Library room.
Earl Trimingham had been contacted in connection with the necessary painting, and
the work would begin in the near future.
Councilman Abrott had made coat comparisons on the establishment of a new Town well
as against the Town's buying water from the City of San Francisco:
For the six months period September, 1950 to March, 1952, the Town.had used 64 million
gallons of water, which would have cost $14,971.68, or $1.73 per thousand cubic foot,
if it had been purchased from the City of San Francisco. Our revenue from water for
this same period was $18,284.00.
Costs of a proposed Town well: 400 foot well $4,5
P im; 5,7 .53
The expected life of such a well would be 25 years, or a depreciation of $182.67.
The expected'life of the pump would be 20 years, or $287.42 per year.
Maintainance costs would approximate $200.00 each Ainle years.
Labor $85.00 per month
Pump House Cost 25 year depreciation $100.00 per year.
Mr. Abrott had contacted John Medeiros on Rose Avenue in connection with securing a
well site on his property. Mr. Medeiros expressed his willingness to sell such a
site to the Town. To run a 8" line to Main Street, where it would hook up with the
new 12" line would cost $15,500.00 50 year life expectancy, or a depreciation of
$310.00 per year.
Cost for power,'based on water use of last six months $1,574.61. From this figure
the cost of power for Pump House #1, $583.00, could be deducted, leaving a power
estimate of $1,000.00.
A recapitulation of the above figures gives a total of $2,865.76, or 30 cents per
thousand cubic feet.
It was decided to write the San Francisco Water Department, enquiring their reduced
rates, in the event Pleasanton assumes responsibility for maintenance and operation
of the facilities, as mentioned in the'last two paragraphs of their letter of June 6.
Also to investigate the possibilities of well sites closer to the Main Street line.
Mr. Oxsen was asked to ascertain if the lot in the rear of the City Hall is owned by
the Town, where's test hole could be bored.
The meeting adjourned at 10:22 P.M.
Mayor
Cler
