13.2.
Pleasanton, Calif.
July 7, 1952
The :Town Council met in regular session at 8:15 P.M. on the above date, with Mayor
Trimingham presiding. Roll Call showed: present Councilman Hewitson, Hansen,
Cairo, Abrott and Trimingham.
The minutes of'the meetings of June 2, 9 and 24 were read and approved.
Engineer Goodridge reported that there seemed to be a layer of clay below the surface
of Kottinger Avenue. It is the responsibility of the contractor to establish a firm
subgrade; however Mr. Goodridge felt that the Town should assume responsibility for
that portion of the street over which the Town's had overflowed. Councilman
Cairo suggested that a representative from McCathmon Wunderlich be asked to meet with
Mr. Goodridge in order to make an adjustment. Mr. Oxsen was asked to arrange this
meeting.
Mr. Goodridge suggested that the over -flow pipe on the water tank be changed to a 12"
pipe, which would probably correct the difficulty. Mr. Sobiela was asked to make this
change.
Mr. Goodridge also suggested that the pressure on the artesian well released and
that water drained from the Kottinger Avenue area
Mr..Oxsen reported a price of $1.65 per foot for curb and gutters for property owners
on Third Street and Angela Street. Mr. Hall had been contacted'and he had questioned
the necessity of his installing a gutter on his Angela Street property, as there is
none on the adjoining property, and the curb on that property is not standard and
breaking up. He would like the Council to contact Mr. Madsen in an effort to have
him install a standard curb and gutter at this time. Mr. Taranto, on Third Street,
had not been contacted as he was out of town, but it is expected he will install
curbing.
Engineer Goodridge recommended the awarding of contract to Sierra Pipe Line Construc-
tion Company, the low bidder($16,229.20), on the 12" Water Main and Pump Project.
RESOLUTION 2233, accepting the bid of Sierra Pipe Line Construction Co., was adopted,
on motion of Councilman Cairo, seconded by Councilman Hewitson. AYES: Councilman
Hewitson, Hansen, Cairo, Abrott and Trimingham.
9 2234, transfering the balance in the 1910 Bond Fund ($121.49) to the
-fund, was adopted, on motion of Councilman Hansen, seconded by Councilman
Hewitson. AYES: Councilmen Hewitson, Hansen, Cairo, Abrott and Trimingham.
Engineer Goodridge was asked "to draw up specifications for sidewalks, curbs and
gutters, so that this information would be available 'Townspeople, and such
future installations uniform.
Mr. Oxsen reported that the 2i' curbing being considered on Kottinger Avenue would
cost $3.50 per foot, from which the original contract price of $1.35 per foot would
be deducted, or $2.15 per foot additional, a total cost of $645.00. Mr. Goodridge
suggested that score marks be put on this curb to facilitate entrance of future
builders to the property. It was the opinion of the Council members that this
additional curb be installed. Councilman Cairo moved that the contractors' price
of $2.15 additional be accepted for installation of 300 of 22 foot curb, seconded by
Councilman Abrott, and approved by all councilmen.
1 35
CLAIMS #626 to #1666, in the amount of $2,699.72 were presented to the Finance Committee:
Claim
No.
1 VIP).
