174
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Councilman Hewitson reported that our police car is now getting a check by County radio
every half hour from 8 P.M. to 5A.M. The Council thought it best to wait until March
before purchasing a new police car.
The inability to see the One Way signs on Division Street was discussed again. The
Council agreed that arrows with reflectors would be the best solution to the problem.
I1r. Oxsen was requested to order three such arrows from the California Automobile
Association; two are to be installed on the corner of Division St. and Railroad Avenue
and one on the corner of St. Mary and Division Streets.
STRTETS AND BUILDINGS:
Councilman Cairo reported that Mr. Douglas Safr.eno had contacted him regarding the use
of McKinley Park as a range for the recently formed Archery Club. The Council could
see no harm in a range being set up there under supervision of the Police Department;
however, Mr. Otho Keefe will be consulted first regarding the liability insurance cover-
age in the Park.
Complaints have been received about cows grazing in the Park. When Mr. Zaro requested
permission to move the fence line, it was agreed that the fence should be in continuation
with the back line of the Park. Mr. Sobiela will have him correct this matter. Arrange-
ments will be made with Mr. Pete Madsen regarding the removal of the old barbecue pit
bricks which are still in the Park.
It was reported that diesel oil is leaking from the Grammar School into the Town's sewer
lines. Councilman Cairo will check on this matter, and Mr. Oxsen was directed to write
to the Grammar School Board of Trustees regarding same.
PUBLIC UTILITIES:
The changes in the.wiring at the Pump House are nearing completion. Pleasanton Electric
expects to have the brace on the telescope tomorrow, and then the Pacific Gas Electric Co. it
will make the cut over. Mr. Sobiela reported that water is still getting into the oil
reservoir of the new pump when it rains; however, as this is Sierra Pipe Line's respon-
sibility, the matter will be referred to Mr. Dan Trade.
Mr. Victor Lund has completed the sowing of permanent pasture at the Sewer Farm, and
the lease for that piece of property will be drawn up soon.
Mr. Oxsen will contact the health authorities regarding water running from a septic
tank on Minnie Street on Mr. Lassen's property.
CITY HALL:
Mayor Trimingham spoke to Chief Delucchi, Mr. Joe Medeiros, and Mr. George Sobiela about
the delay on a decision regarding the State Employees' Retirement System. He stated
that the recent actuarial calculation would be in effect until July 1st and that the
Council felt they should await the results of the proposed bond issue, the results of
the well that is being drilled at the present time and also any charges from the Sam
Francisco Water Department before reaching a decision on the retirement plan. He asked
Chief Delucchi, Mr. Medeiros, and Mr. Sobiela to pass along this information to the other
employees.
Mr. Oxsen stated that Mr. Carl Lassen has made arrangements with Mr. Deetz for the clean-
ing out of the ditch between the railroads; however, they will not be able to start
until Western Pacific is through with their work on the culvert. Western Pacific esti-
mates that their job will be completed in three weeks, weather permitting. Mr. Oxsen
also stated that Mr. Vivrette has obtained the elevation from Western Pacific Co. and
will establish grade between the railroads for the ditch.
As the Pacific Gas Electric Co. has not started to trim the trees as requested, Mr.
Qxsen will again get in touch with Mr. Perry.
The Council agreed to send a td.egrarn of congratulations to Supervisor Stanley in the
event he is elected Chairman of the Board tomorrow.
Councilman Hansen spoke of the hearing today on the proposed Zone 5 of the Alameda
County Flood Control. He felt that the Pleasanton Livermore valley should. be in a sep-
arate zone, as in all probability the taxes in this area would be increased without
due benefit from the Flood Control. He stated that there would be another meeting at
the City Hall on January 13th at 8 P.M.
RESOLUTION 2265, payroll for December, in the amount of ,$3;785.00, was adopted, on motion
