190
Councilman Abrott, seconded by Councilman Cairo, and approved by all Councilmen present.
A copy of Resolution 2273 is to be sent to the Recorder's Office after Attorney White's
approval. The Clerk was instructed to send an invoice to Mr. Roy Jensen for the cost
of publishing Ordinance 222.
The Council discuesed the matter of sample ballots for the bond election. It was felt
by all that it would be a help in publicizing the election, and instructed Attorney
White to order same from A. Carlisle Co. if they did not exceed an expense of $75.00.
Mr. Roy Jensen and Mr. Bud Krueger appeared before the Council to request a letter stating
that the City will furnish Water Service and Sewer Disposal Service to his proposed subdivi-
sion of 225 lots when necessary. The Council agreed to grant Mr. Jensen's request upon
Engineer Goodridge's approval.
Supervisor Chester Stanley, Supervisor Harry Bartell, and Dr. Paul Dolan, President of
the Alameda County Fair Association, were present to discuss the matter of charging City
Sales Tax of the concessions at the Fair this year. Dr. Dolan stated that the concesr
sionaires had been bidding without the inclusion of City Sales Tax in their figures, and
he felt that it would be unfair to impose the tax at this time; however they had no
objection for setting.up a system next year in sufficient time for the bidders to be
notified. The Fair Association agreed to try to determine what the revenue would be for
the City if Sales Tax is charged next year. The Council plans to schedule another meeting
with these gentlemen immediately after the Fair for further discussion on this matter.
Dr. Dolan stated that permits for the use of the barbecue pits at the Fairgrounds
could be secured at the office; however use of the restaurant building must be approved
by the Board of Supervisors.
Supervisor Stanley was asked the County's intention in resurfacing First Street. He
stated that the First Street bridge had been included in this year's budget; however
no action had been taken on the surfacing of the street, as there had been no formal
request. He suggested waiting until the State Legislature adjourns in June for this
request as there might be a different allocation of gas tax funds. Councilman Cairo was
asked to secure a report on the amount of work that had been done by the County in
Pleasanton in the past few years as compared'to the work done in other cities in the
County.
The appraisal by Mr. Robert V. Scott, Mr. Andrews' agent, on the portion of land
being considered for a reservoir site, was received by the Council. Mr. Scott's
appraisal was in the amount of $9,000.00 Mr. Fracisco, of Livermore, appraised the
land at a figure of $750.00 The Council thought it best to await the outcome of the
Bond Election before acting further on this matter.
Mr. Victor Lund appeared before the Council at this time to discuss the Sewer Farm
lease. The Council reviewed Mr. Lund's requested changes in the lease and felt they
could be made with satisfaction to both parties. Councilman Cairo, Councilman Abrott,
and Mr. Lund will meet Sunday, Uarch 1st, at 10 A.M. to determine the best method to
handle the water that would accumulate at the S.W. corner and run -off onto the adjoining
land. They will divert the water from the old ponds to the new effluent fields at the
same time.
COI•liUN (IONS
2 -10 -53 Division of Highways
2 -1b -53 Division of Highways
2 -16 -53 State Department of Finance
2 -4 -53 City of Monrovia
2 -13 -53 Co. of Alameda -Bd. of Supervisors
Delano Chamber of Commerce
1 -31 -53 Dr. R.
