Likewise Chief of olice Delucchi spoke on a matter and what had taken place.
Mr. Irwin went on to advise that since the first of the year he had discontinued ice cream
and milk at his place of business and for the greater part was serving canned milk to his
restaurant trade. He made some complaint with regards to the Pleasanton Hotel and its
not paying a milk inspection fee, and he was advised to the effect that the matter was under
consideration and would shortly be settled.
Mr. McGonegal spoke in furtherance to his communication with reference to the rental
of the unused sewer farm property for stock etc. Mayor Orloff advised Mr. McGonegal that
for sometime the Council had been unwilling to rent out the property and he stated the
reason.for this was due to the fact that considerable had been spent to improve the
property for the purpose for which it was needed and if it was used fur the purpose that
Mr., McGonegal intended that it would be ,upsetting and the municipality would be put to
further expense in connection with getting it back into shape.- Councilman Madsen was
called upon to- explain.the situation since Mr. McGonegal felt that it could be.fenced
off and no injury caused.
Mr. Henderson of the American Rubber Company was present to present prices and samples
of fire hosev In connection with the report of the Fire Chief a report was submitted concern-
ing the fire hose'on -hand at the present time and also the need of further hose for the
department's use in 1939. It seemed
felt between Councilman Trimingham and Councilman Madsen that such a permit was.,-.
as desired
and since none was presented a request was made of the Council by Mr. Trimingham to the
effect that should an'application come in during the week that same be granted. Councilman
Madsen was very willing to put up the customary fee of $5.00 for the permit and the Mayor
solicited an expression from the Council with reference to the matter. He
made the suggestion that further donations be encouraged for next year and that the trees
be planted. He reported that the street repairs which had been in progress of recent weeks
had practically been completed and that things as a"whole in his department were progressing
with satisfaction.
Councilman Rivolta took up the matter of the fire hose and after some discussion bet-
ween Councilmen, Mr. Henderson and Fire Chief Letham, it was decided that the department
should purchase 200 feet of 22 inch hose at $1.10 per foot from the American Rubber Company
and the order for same was given to Mr. Henderson. The matter of more hose, since Mr.
Letham was anxious to procure at least 600 feet, of new hose, was laid over until a future
meeting.
The Clerk spoke with reference to License No. 161 -- Fiorio & Vizzolini $60.00 and
the cancelling of this license and the issuing of a new license as of January 1st to cover
such items as the firm9was now carrying and which he itemized as to include four licenses
or a total of $48.00. The Clerk explained that other licenses were being carried but
recently certain commodities under the '60.00 license had been discontinued and that the
firm had asked for consideration.
