Supplemental Agreement #2
D. The daily platoon minimum staffing will stay at 34 line personnel after the January 2002 academy
graduates. The overstaffed positions will not be replaced with personnel on overtime.
E. The department will continue to avoid the use of acting engineers and captains per the MOU, even
though on some days the duty division may exceed 34 line personnel.
F. When one of the firefighter or firefighter /paramedic permanent assignments is continuously open for
more than 10 shifts due to any reason, starting with the 11 shift, an appropriate overstaffed person
will be transferred to the position, in lieu of continuing overtime replacement for the absent person.
Transfers will be made, if possible, within the division of the opening. If cross-division movement is
necessary, FLSA balancing procedures will be followed.
G. When the absent member returns and works three (3) consecutive shifts, their absence clock is reset,
and if they can't work for three (3) consecutive shifts because of a reason related to original absence,
overstaffing will resume.
H. Overstaffed personnel are permanent members of their assigned company and not available to be
reassigned for non - company assignments. This follows normal departmental continuity of company
procedures.
I. During an emergency recall, overstaffed personnel may be reassigned to missing companies until such
time that overtime staffing with permanent personnel can be achieved.
Agre d:
tew
Fire Chief
Date:
nis Burns
President, IAFF Local 1974
Date 4/ -7'
