Date: "You are hereby authorized and requested to deduct from wages due me (and payable on every other regular pay day) such amount as which will total the amount of my PCEA dues as reported to you by the President of PCEA and to make such deductions for each and every succeeding month unless and until I revoke tills assignment in writing. Signature 2.2 Malnten •nce oC MembershtD All employees in classifications listed in Section 1.0, who are members of the Association, tendering periodic dues thirty (30) days after the City Council of the City of Pleasanton approved this Memorandum of Understanding and all employees in the aforementioned unit who thereafter become members of the Association shall, as a condition of employment, pay dues to the Association for the duration of this Memorandum of Understanding, and each year thereafter. During • period of thirty (30) days prior to May 1. 1990 and thirty (10) days prior to any May t thereafter, any employee who 1s a member of the Association in the aforemenCloned classifications shall have the right to withdraw from the Association and discontinue dues deduction as of the earnings period commencing April 1. Said withdrawal shall be communicated by the employee in writing to the Director of Finance. An employee who is subsequently employed in a position outside of the Unit represented by the Association shall not be required to pay dues to the Association. 2.1 r i•atl with ltilovees Any representative of the PCEA shall give notice to the Department Head when contacting City employees during the duty period of the employees, provided that solicitation for membership or other internal employee organization business shall be conducted only during the off -duty hours of all empl oyees concerned. Prearrangements for routine contact may be made by agreement between the PCEA and the Department Head and when made shall continue until revoked. The PCEA say designate to the Personnel officer, no more than two representatives to discuss the grievances with their members. The PCEA representatives shall be allowed reasonable time at the beginning or end of an employee's normal duty period to discuss the employee's grievance. This use of duty period time by either the PCEA representative or the employee shall not unduly affect either person's ability to complete their assigned duties. These time limitations shall not be in effect during the conduct of formal grievance hearings. - 5 -
