MATERIAL_
DP'
Oubject: FW: Support for East Pleasanton Plan Provided to the City Council
After Distribution of Packet
----Original Message---- ,L ,
From: Daina Schlegel Date • 5/7 -1j
Sent:Wednesday, May 13, 2015 4:14 PM
To: PTown Weekly#2
Cc: Mayor and City Council
Subject:Support for East Pleasanton Plan
I am writing to you today as a resident of East Pleasanton. I live in the Ironwood Development and the proposed area of
building would literally be across the street from my home. I know there is a very vocal movement to stop the building
of the proposed plan, but I am writing this letter to urge residents to take the time to see and listen to the entire plan as
proposed by the City and developers.
I attended one of the initial meetings coordinated by the City of Pleasanton because I had many of the same concerns as
the anti-building movement. After speaking with many of the developers face to face about my concerns, and also
watching the entire presentation, I left the meeting feeling that this is a positive for our city, and also feeling that I am
excited to be living so close to this proposed plan. The developers are open to listening to the concerns of Pleasanton
citizens and addressing them. Right now I live across the street from an Industrial Lot that is a complete eyesore- I
welcome the addition of an area with bike trails, wildlife habitat, and "mini-downtown" area where people can meet for
coffee or lunch after a bike ride on the Iron Horse Trail. And the completion of El Charro Road means less traffic on
Santa Rita and Valley.
After I left the meeting I attended, I came home to find one of the bright yellow flyers urging residents to voice their
position and considered attending just to voice my support. I had other pro-Plan friends attend the meeting and they
eported that the meeting was overtaken by the anti-building contigency. That is why I thought it was important to
write to you today. There are other residents of Pleasanton that do support the East Pleasanton Plan. I for one hope
the City will move forward, especially as this project will be implemented in phases over many years.
Please let East Pleasanton live up to it's potential.
Sincerely,
Daina Schlegel
II
1
