•ubject: FW: East Pleasanton Planning Process SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Provided to the City Council
From: Marilyn Duman] After Distribution of Packet
Sent: Thursday, May 14, 2015 12:09 PM 5W-4 _
To: Mayor and City Council Date .
Cc: Shweta Bonn
Subject: East Pleasanton Planning Process
Dear Mayor and Council Members:
I am writing to express my support for the City to continue the East Pleasanton Specific Plan
planning process. I have read that you will consider stopping the planning due to the drought
at your May 19th meeting. I do not understand the logic of stopping a process which has been
underway for three years. Planning for the future does not mean homes will be built. If water
is not available then building permits will not be available either. This report will provide a
template to plan for the future. As a long time Pleasanton resident I have frequently seen
people with a vested interest in stopping development in "their" neighborhood use specious
arguments to stop the planning process. I have always supported planning that is in the best
interest of the community at large. The loudest voices do not necessarily represent these
Sterests.
The Task Force has worked diligently for almost three years to evaluate the constraints and
opportunities of this area and taken into consideration significant public input. The result is
the proposed plan which will make the landowners provide benefits that enhance the entire
City. New schools, funding the completion of El Charro Road and the Iron Horse Trail,
providing trails, public parks and recreational access to the Chain of Lakes are all benefits to
the City at large.
Please vote to support the continued planning of the East Pleasanton Specific Plan and finish
the associated EIR. I see no reason to stop a process which is so close to completion.
Sincerely,
Marilyn Duman
Pleasanton 94588
Click here to report this email as spam.
1
