Approve the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) among the Alameda County Agricultural Fair, the County of Alameda and The City of Pleasanton relative to the Altamont Commuter Express Train Station. 2. Approve the Letter of Agreement between the Alameda County Agricultural Fairgrounds and the County of Alameda relative to the Altamont Commuter Express Train Station. 3. Authorize the President of your Board to sign both documents. DISCUSSION: The Altamont Commuter Express (ACE) train is a regional benefit serving all residents and employees of Alameda County in providing an alternative to passenger vehicle commuting. In April of 1998 the Pleasanton City Council, when ACE began train service, approved a three-year interim station to be constructed in the Union Pacific Right of Way, adjacent to the Alameda County Fairgrounds parking lot, which is located directly across from the Fairgrounds main entrance on Pleasanton Avenue. Since then, Alameda County Fairgrounds parking lot has been successfully used as the Pleasanton ACE Train Station. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) resolves that the parking lot is the permanent location of the Pleasanton ACE train station. By designating a "permanent" station, makes it eligible for grant funding from Which interim stations are excluded. The MOU also represents a written agreement on the roles and responsibilities of the Fairgrounds and the City of Pleasanton for operations and maintenance of The ACE train station parking lot, including the resurfacing. The MOU is among the Alameda County Agricultural Fair, the County of Alameda and The City of Pleasanton. The Alameda County Fairgrounds lot is partially owned by Alameda County, and partially owned by the Union Pacific Railroad, which portion is leased to the Fairgrounds. The related Letter of Agreement is between the Alameda County Agricultural Fairgrounds and the County of Alameda.
