This area was zoned for community use,
and therefore developed for church and preschool/community use about 10 years ago. The congregation has decided to change location again and
wants to sell the property, and Ponderosa is a willing participant in this process. However, the property would require rezoning by the city council.
I believe that the city council has approved more than enough housing for Pleasanton. We have multiple housing units under construction and have
yet to experience the effects of all this development. We already have mandatory water restrictions, before these units are even occupied. The
schools are overcrowded and constantly asking parents for more money to supplement programs - and these new housing units are not yet occupied
with children who will be attending our schools. Traffic and congestion is eroding the quality of life in Pleasanton, and will only get worse with the
multiple units being built. The parks and recreation facilities are stretched to accommodate the growing numbers of sport or community events that
Pleasanton would like to offer to our residents. Why do we need more housing? We don't!! This development benefits only one group - the
developers at Ponderosa.
The council needs to take a stronger stance against further development and preserve the areas zoned for community use. We do not need more
residential housing. This proposed project should not be approved for development.
Sincerely,
Patricia Baptiste
Click here to report this email as spam.
1
