Subject: FW: proposed housing on centerpointe
From: Tracy Dunne
Sent: Thursday, October 01, 2015 11:14 AM
To: Pleasanton City Clerk
Subject: FW: proposed housing on centerpointe property
From: jabaptiste_2000]
Sent: Wednesday, September 30, 2015 9:17 PM
To: Mayor and City Council < citvcouncil @citvofpleasantonca.gov>
Subject: proposed housing on centerpointe property
Mayor and city council,
proper$UPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Provided to the City Council
After Distribution of Packet
OCT 0 b MO
Date
I am opposed to the proposed development of the church property on Busch Rd. It was originally zoned for
church, preschool, and community use, and now Ponderosa wants to squeeze 25 homes on 4.3 acres!! The
council has already approved over 1700 units now under construction for our city. We have water restrictions,
crowded schools, and traffic congestion now - and the units under construction will have a significant negative
impact on the above issues.
I moved my family to Pleasanton 24 years ago. I left San Leandro, where I had been raised, worked, and started
my own family to move here. I left because the city council in San Leandro allowed developers to build
multiple housing units throughout the city. Apartments were placed behind private homes, on every vacant lot,
on business or church properties that the developers wanted to convert for their own profits. And the council
was happy to oblige their request to make money by rezoning those properties. The schools were overcrowded
and therefore the quality of education and test scores declined, traffic was a nightmare, crime increased
dramatically, and the number of recreational facilities and the quality of those parks declined. We left for a
better quality of life here. I'm afraid that Pleasanton is going down the same path as San Leandro. The
developers had their way in San Leandro with the blessing of the council and mayor.
Just remember that unrestricted growth has consequences, analogous to cancer cells.
John Baptiste
Click here to report this email as spam.
1
