I am writing to express my support of the
Ponderosa/Centerpointe Application.
As a current member of Centerpointe Church and a former staff member, I was there when we first celebrated moving onto this
parcel of land and the community supported us for the great work we were going to do. I was also there when we had our
devastating incident at the preschool and the community was the first to throw darts in our direction. I have been part of a
church that for over 135 years has fed and cared the poor not only in our community but in our world, a church body that wants
to continue to be part of the community we are in, not just be in it. We are a church body that wants to give back to our
community and to our world, but much of that ability was sadly taken away from us.
I am sending you this email to urge you to carefully consider this proposal that Centerpointe and Ponderosa has brought forth
and to vote YES. Through careful planning and discussion, these two entities have come up with a plan that not only meets the
needs of the community but allows Centerpointe Church a way to continue to be part of the community we love so much into
the future. Would we like to stay and do ministry on these grounds that we currently have? Of course. but our finances dictate
otherwise. We would much rather work with you, the City Council, and Ponderosa to find a way to leave this site graciously
and in a way that is beneficial to our city, our community and to our church population. By allowing us to sell this site to
Ponderosa, we will be able to leave this site without a huge debt hanging over our heads and will be able to continue to do the
good things for our community and perhaps even more. Ponderosa will be able to provide quality homes for families and for
seniors in our area. I believe that this is a much better option that walking away from the property and letting whomever
purchase it and build whatever they desire on it.
1 will be at the City Council meeting on October 6th and I plan to stand for Centerpointe and Ponderosa and for the postive
impact approval of this project will have for our community. If you have any questions, you can reach me at the number listed
below.
Make it a great day.!!
—Heidi Maher
Click here to report this email as spam.
1
