(Looking West)
Once the City placed "No Thru Traffic" signs through the Pleasanton Hills neighborhood between Bernal Ave.
and Mission Dr. via Puerto Vallarta and Dolores Dr., to help that neighborhood minimize cut-through traffic on
their streets, all those cut through vehicles began cutting through the Ventana Hills and Mission Hills
neighborhood to avoid the Bernal/Sunol intersection traffic signal. While that may have been helpful for the
("Pleasanton Hills neighborhood, traffic is now WORSE for the Mission Hills neighborhood. Please do not allow
the Ventana Hills and Mission Hills neighborhood streets to be made any more dangerous by allowing the
Lund Ranch II development roadway access through the Ventana Hills and Mission Hills neighborhood.
Junipero Street between Mission Hills Park and Sunol Blvd. is even narrower than the above pictures
show. The unsafe conditions surrounding Mission Hills Park continue all the way westward toward the LOS "F"
intersection of Sunol Blvd./Junipero St.
Residents of the Ventana Hills and Mission Hills neighborhood have been promised for more than 25 years
that any traffic to the Lund Ranch II development would NOT access the development through the Ventana
Hills and Mission Hills neighborhood. Every resident (existing and new) living in the Bridle Creek neighborhood
was made well aware of the FACT that when the Lund Ranch II development was constructed,ALL the Lund
Ranch II construction and residential traffic would be directed down Sycamore Rd. It is not right for the City to
go back on its promise. Junipero St. and Independence Dr. simply CANNOT HANDLE ANY ADDITIONAL
TRAFFIC.
Sycamore Rd. was designed and constructed to handle the Lund Ranch II increase of traffic from DAY 1. This is
the reason the City conducted traffic impact studies; to make educated and technical decisions on traffic
impacts for the safety of the city's residents. As a professionally educated Civil Engineer who has been
"'designing and managing roadway construction projects for more than 25 years, there is absolutely no validity
to the argument that a road is a structure. The passage of Measure PP has no bearing on this discussion and
should not even be taken into consideration while discussing this issue.
3
