If the jockey pump is not available for operation, the station
shall begin operation with a large pump.
o When the jockey pump is unable to meet pressure requirements at full speed, the
station shall smoothly transition to a single large pump operation, resulting in the jockey
pump being removed from operation. The large pump shall start at minimum speed (as
recommended by the manufacturer)and ramp up the speed required to meet pressure
requirements.
o When a single large pump is unable to meet pressure requirements at full speed, the
second large pump shall be called. The transition to two pump operation shall be
smooth: operating pump shall ramp down to minimum speed as second pump starts at
minimum speed (as recommended by the manufacturer based on the supplied pumps)
and both pumps shall ramp up together at identical speed to meet pressure
requirements.
o The same operation shall apply when a third duty pump is brought into operation with
the two operating pumps.
o When the station pressure transducers sense pressure rising above the discharge
pressure set point, pumps speed shall be reduced and individual pumps shall be taken
out of operation and required to maintain the pressure set point. As the operating
pumps are ramped down to minimum speed, one duty pump shall be turned off and the
remaining pumps shall ramp up to maximum speed, then speed shall be reduced as
needed to meet the pressure set point.
o Lead pump shall alternate amongst the duty pumps automatically to equalize run time.
City of Pleasanton
RW Booster Station Request for Quotation 3
