ATTACHMENT 2: PUBLIC COMMENTS
2) If a full design cannot be done, consider showing just how a cycletrack would meet up with its
endpoints. How would a cyclist cross into or out of the cycletrack? Is it a maneuver that motorists could
expect with signage or will we have to rely on enforcement or luck to keep it safe? Commonly this is the
biggest drawback to these designs other than dealing with curb cuts.
3) How will the cycletrack be cleaned and with what frequency?
There are ways around these issues but they need to be considered in the context of whether to even
continue down this path. The devil really is in the details.
Finally, with respect to the downtown plan draft in general: Please put more thought into the wording of
public transportation coordination. It is only explicitly mentioned in regards to ACE and only mentions
comfort in general.
The city should also consider bike accessibility(bike link temporary use lockers especially, not just
monthlong rental lockers)for both ACE and LAVTA connections, and should also explicitly call out
coordinating for service speed as well. Faster service means more multi-modal trips including partial
bike trips.
Bus stop locations, distances between stops, the presence of level boarding platforms instead of pull-ins
where a bus has to wait to merge(and miss a light), stop light prioritization and "hold-green" capability-
all of these things are partially controlled by the city in coordination with LAVTA and must be considered
in such a plan.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
Best,
Steven Dunbar
Livermore resident
Downtown Pleasanton shopper
10R and 8 bus rider
Daily cyclist
Engineer,GILLIG bus
13
