The grout for the cutoff walls shall be
placed to the full depth of the walls in twelve (12) inch layers.

Prior to groutng, the rock shall be flushed with water to wash down the
fines. The rock shall be kept wet just ahead of the actual placing of
grout. T~e grout shall be brought to the place of final deposit by
methods approved by the Engineer and discharged directly on the rocks,
using a splash plate of metal or wood to prevent displacement of rock
directly under the discharge. The flow of grout shall be directed with
brooms, spades or barrels to prevent it from fl owing excessively along
the same path, and to assure that all voids are filled.

Sufficient barring shall be done to loosen tight pockets of rocks and
otherwise aid the penetration of grout. All brooming on the slopes
shall be uphill, and after the grout has stiffened, the entire surface
shall be rebroomed to eliminate runs and to fill voids caused by
sloughing of the grout. After completion of any strip or panel, ~no
workman or other load shall be permitted on he grouted surface for a
period of twenty-four (24) hours. The grouted surface shall be
protected from injurious action by the sun and shall be protected from
rain, flowing water, and mechanical injury, and shall be cured as
specified by the Engineer.

Weep Holes: Weep holes shall be provided by placing fiber tubes or pipe
(4-inch minimum diameter) through the grouted rock at a five foot
longitudinal spacing. The tubes used to form weep holes shall extend a
minimum distance of two (2) inches into the filter blanket. Cardboard
or fiber tubing shall be removed after concrete grout has set and before
completion of work.

Measurement and Payment. The quantity to be paid for will be the number
of cubic yards of rock placed (not including the filter blanket) as
determined from the dimensions shown on the plans or the dimensions
directed by the Engineer.

Payment will be at the contract unit price per cubic yard for grouted
rock slope protection and shall include payment for furnishing and
installing all materials, trenching for cut-off walls, installing weep-
holes, placing filter blanket and concrete grout and all. other
incidentals.
