I have multiple concerns:
1. This is a neighborhood park. It is used quite heavily by local residents, including, I
am sure, many of the cricket players. This is the only greenspace in our
neighborhood. Children play in the fields; there are several volleyball teams who
regularly use Muirwood, people fly kites, walk their dogs, play with their children,
picnic on the grass and enjoy the open space. Putting in a cricket pitch which is the
same size as a football field as a permanent installation, will destroy the character of
our park.
2. There is no parking at this park. The only parking available is along the street.
When soccer is active, the street parking is completely full. I expect that cricket will
displace soccer so you are choosing one group of residents over another.
3. Our park is between two schools - Lydiksen and Foothill. The traffic during the
school year is unbearable, and many, many cars already cut through Muirwood along
the parkside to avoid the traffic on Foothill and West Las Positas. Installing the only
cricket pitch in the area in this park will attract players from other communities -
Dublin, San Ramon, Livermore, perhaps even from Walnut Creek and Fremont.
There is no parking and West Las Positas can't handle that sort of traffic load.
