your traffic engineer signed off on this plan?
4. This park has only two restrooms, both next to the children's playground. Now that
you are attracting multiple out of town visitors to the park, do you think this is a good
idea?
5. 1 spoke with City staff this morning at the Farmers Market and asked them why this
pitch isn't being constructed at either the Ken Mercer Sports Park or the Bernal Sports
Park; both constructed specifically to house sporting events and both with adequate
parking lots. They replied that local residents didn't want a cricket pitch built in the
sports parks. Seriously? Ken Mercer has room for a cricket pitch. And it is far more
accessible, not to mention already being used as a sports park. Why are you even
considering destroying a neighborhood park in order to provide a single use sport
complex? I would have the same objection if you planned to put in a football field.
Muirwood park is a neighborhood, family park, used by lots of people for different
activities. Putting in a cricket pitch will tum it into a cricket field and it will be used
continuously by adults and children to the obliviation of any other activities. It will be
noisy, there is no parking, it is common for spectators to bring their lunch and dinner
to the game because the games are long. There will be litter.
6. There has been almost no notification of this pending drastic change. Supposedly
postcards were mailed to residents. No one in my neighborhood has received one.
The only notification we have seen is through posts on NextDoor. This is not
appropriate communication from the City. Rameshu Immadi from Parks and Rec
appears particularly vested in this cricket pitch idea. I applaud him for wanting to
bring a new sport to Pleasanton. But it needs to be located in a suitable park with
adequate parking and accomodation for spectators.
I urge you to rethink the placement of this enormous, fixed field and place it into a
suitable sports park location.
Respectfully,
Barbara Costello
in
Click here to report this email as spam.
