My parents moved
here because it was a small town with open space, beautiful oak
trees, and a community that wanted to grow slowly, with purpose,
and retain the qualities inherent to Pleasanton.
I myself become a Pleasanton homeowner on Sherry Court because
I love living in an oak woodland community that feels remote and
part of the natural surroundings. The homes on my court seem like
that small town that brought my family here long ago.
Unfortunately, if housing is allowed to be erected on the St.
Augustine's property, the homeowners on Sherry Court will lose that
small town feeling and their natural surroundings. The idea of
looking up at houses, not seeing oak trees and sky upsets me
greatly. The idea of seeing houses above me, disturbs my sense of
privacy. This is not the court we want.
Also, traffic congestion and water runoff are already a problem
which would worsen with the suggested developments. The views
from Kottinger Park and neighborhoods would be severely ruined -
no more sunsets.
For these reasons and for a need to retain our of Pleasanton town, I
urge you to say no to the church and yes to the homeowners who
dwell on Sherry Court. Please do not approve building residential
housing at St. Augustine's. Afterall, some of us would not have
bought into this court if those buildings were here before us and our
property will not be as attractive to homeowners in the future.
Thank you for your consideration,
