have stalled. Funding for vacant positions has been cut back to help
balance the budget, and the union (PPOA) says Pleasanton police
officer salaries are not competitive. Whatever the final agreement is,
we need to ensure the funding is in place to support our police
force. '^
Before you lock in millions of dollars on costly CIP amenities, 1 ask
that you support "all of Pleasanton, all residents, all areas, all
neighborhoods and all districts" by reconsidering a pause on funding
discretionary amenities until the city addresses the following
pressing true "quality of life" issues:
- the city and the PPOA come to an contract agreement and the
budget is updated appropriately
- vacant police department positions are funded and not lost in
budget balancing
- a water supply strategy has been developed, approved, and funded
- a plan to treat and rehabilitate our contaminated groundwater wells
has been developed, approved, and funding secured
It's not "flip-flopping" on projects previously approved when you
reassess project funding, and make financial, budgetary decisions
based on niceties vs needs. It's kind of your job.
Thank you for your time.
Billie R. Otis
