\/ MARK EXHIBIT A TOt#6—Sunol Boulevard Line F-7 Water Improvements
a a THOMAS City of Pleasanton
SCOPE OF SERVICES - TASK ORDER #6
PROJECT UNDERSTANDING
The City of Pleasanton (City) has requested that Mark Thomas provide design plans, specifications, and an
estimate of probable construction cost for approximately 4,500 feet of 20-inch water pipeline on Sunol Boulevard
from Bernal Avenue to Sycamore Road. This pipe is intended to provide additional capacity in anticipation of the
abandonment of a parallel 12-inch pipeline.
Akel Engineering(not a part of this contract) has completed modeling to identify the necessary improvements to
the system to bridge between today's conditions and when the future solution is implemented to increase the
City's water supply. The work for the future water supply is in progress and being completed by Brown and
Caldwell with results anticipated this fall (2023). In the meantime, the 20-inch water pipeline improvement is
being expedited to meet the 2024 summer demands.
At the request of the City, the project delivery method will be expedited as compared to a traditional project
delivery. The city calls this method "partial design/build." The water pipeline will be designed using a plan
alignment, locating it horizontally from existing features such as a fixed distance from the face of curb. The
pipeline depth will be indicated as a standard burial depth. It is expected that the pipe depth will be varied and
modified during construction where the pipeline location conflicts with utilities or other underground features.
The actual profile (showing depth) will be determined based on contractor pothole data. The City will generate
the profile drawings during construction and the project will not be surveyed for elevations, right of way lines or
property lines. The design will rely on publicly available aerial photography and LIDAR data provided by the City
for existing ground elevations.
The following items are excluded from the design and deliverables:
• Cathodic protection
• Water System Modeling
• Air relief
• Drains
• Laterals, service connections, meters
• Final profile of main
• Geotechnical borings and investigations
• Surveying and project control
• Pavement improvements
• Traffic handling
• Stage construction
• Environmental clearance
• Permitting of any kind
• Storm water quality, construction BMPs
• Printing. Everything is assumed to be delivered in electronic format.
