QyNSAN, City Council Meeting - Submit
Submitted On:
j your written public comment Nov 7, 2023, 10:10AM PST
e
0G City of Pleasanton
i.OA p<A RNF ii P4
Full Name First Name: Anuradha
Last Name: Singh
Email (this entry is disclosable anuradha.111066@gmail.com
if included)
City Council Meeting Date November 07, 2023
Agenda Item Number 16
Comments I am writing to protest the proposed water rate increases like many
of my neighbors and fellow residents. While I support the city's
efforts, a massive increase like this over the next 3 years "because
rates have not been increased since 2011" is not a valid reason to
slam residents with these increases. Better rebates, incentives,
monitoring programs should be available. For example, how does
the city ensure that potable water is not being used to wash the
outdoors by residents? Residents that follow the rules and work hard
to conserve water should not be left to absorb the costs of those
who do not, especially since I am not sure how any rules will be
enforced going forward. I am not convinced that rate increases will
stop in 2026. Other utilities, HOA, etc... have all increased their fees
and soon, Pleasanton will not be as easy or enjoyable to live in.
There is always too much focus on increasing fees just to pinch
enough but not to really push out residents, but not enough on how
the city plans to ensure these are the last increases for the next 13
years (2011-2024). If the city can explain that, you will likely have
more support.
