Design services provided by Dudek under a professional services agreement totaled
$142,603, including $45,810 for the initial environmental design services, and an additional
$96,793 for trail design services, additional environmental and trail design services beyond
that previously scoped, and construction support services. A portion of Dudek’s agreement
was utilized for Santos Ranch stormwater repairs billed to that project, leaving $24,080 in the
agreement. The total available funding for this project was $489,026. The project expenditures,
including environmental review, design, construction, and other miscellaneous expenses,
totaled $368,160, leaving a balance of $120,866. Staff recommends returning the remaining
balance to General Trail Improvements and Development, CIP No. 01737 (Fund 222), as
outlined in Attachment 1.

The trail adds 0.7 miles to the roughly 50 miles of City-maintained trails. The maintenance cost
of the additional trail is expected to primarily be offset by an “adopt-a-trail” program that staff is
developing to maintain this mountain bike trail. However, staff time will be required to create
and manage the program, coordinate with volunteers, and provide maintenance assistance as
necessary.

All the work and project close-out documentation has been completed to the satisfaction of the
Interim Director of Public Works. Staff recommends the City Council accept the project as
complete.

Prepared by: Submitted by: Approved by:

Matthew Gruber, Landscape
Architect
Norm Dorais, Interim Director of Public
Works

Gerry Beaudin, City
Manager

Attachments:
1.
