Additionally, the updated ADA ramps will improve accessibility at signalized intersections
and remove potential hazards on sidewalks, improving mobility in the areas.

OUTREACH
No outreach was conducted, as this item is a routine matter of City business. Construction
notices will be sent to businesses and residents where the project will occur.

STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT
Approval of this action advances the ONE Pleasanton strategic plan goal of Investing in Our
Environment, Strategy 1 – Implement the four-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to
complete design and construction of budgeted capital projects and additionally supports
Strategy 5 – Develop the accessibility for Disabled Americans (ADA) Transition Plan to
enhance access to community facilities and amenities.

FISCAL IMPACT
A total of $650,000 is budgeted for the Annual Curb and Gutter for Street Resurfacing Project,
CIP No. 24509, in the FY 2023/24 Capital Improvement Program. The anticipated total
expenditure for this project is $908,369, including a project contingency of $72,000
(approximately 10 percent of the bid amount). The contingency is for unanticipated costs that
may become apparent during the demolition phase; this could include lengthening the amount
of curb and gutter specified for removal due to conditions in the field that differ from the original
survey used to determine the length necessary to ensure proper drainage. The budget
includes advertising costs, $100,000 for pedestrian push button improvements, $10,000 for
potential tree removal, and $5,000 for material testing services under existing on-call contracts.

The anticipated total expenditure of $908,369 leaves a project shortfall of $258,369. Staff
recommends the transfer of $200,000 from CIP No. 24505, Annual Sidewalk and Intersection
Ramp Installations (ADA) Project, and $58,369 from CIP No. 24512, Annual Sidewalk
Maintenance Project, to complete the funding for this project. Funding for this project is from
Fund 160 – Gas Tax.

The funding and anticipated project expenditures are detailed in Attachment 3.

Prepared by: Submitted by: Approved by:

Su Nguyen, Engineering
Technician
Adam Nelkie, Acting Director of Public
Works

Gerry Beaudin, City
Manager
