Bids opened on February 22 and the bid award is being presented to the
City Council on March 19 with an anticipated construction cost of $9.5 million. Work on
Stoneridge Drive occurs from Johnson Drive to Hopyard Road and will include installation of
approximately 3,200 linear feet of 24-inch fusible PVC water main; 450 linear feet of ductile
iron pipe ranging in diameter from 18-inch to 24-inch; site preparation for installation of a new
prefabricated booster station which is being procured separately; and installation of the
prefabricated booster station with new Zone 7 connection once fabrication is complete. Work
on Sunol Boulevard will extend from Sycamore Road to Bernal Avenue and includes the
installation of 4,500 linear feet of 20-inch ductile iron pipe connecting to the existing City
system at each end. The project will construct a larger turnout and booster station that will
increase the firm capacity and reliability of the turnout from 1,000 gallons per minute (gpm) to
5,200 gpm. Construction of the project is anticipated to start in April, with significant impacts
starting in May and continuing through December.

Turnout No. 4 Booster Station - IN PROGRESS
The third project is the procurement of the prepackaged booster station. Given the limited site
conditions, a prepackaged booster station will be built off-site and will be similar to the
Recycled Water Booster Station in Ken Mercer Sports Park. The consultants developed a
RFP, and proposals were received on January 19, 2024. The proposals ranged from $1.7 -
$1.8 million, as compared to the engineer’s estimate of $850,000. Further analysis and
updates to the RFP are being completed to reduce costs. It is anticipated the booster station
will not be installed until the spring 2025, and the temporary rental pump will continue to be in
place as needed.

EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
The water system improvements and planning advance the City's Climate Action Plan 2.0
(CAP) - Water Resources - Reduce GHG emissions from water usage (including conveyance)
and prepare community water resources for a changing climate, which will result in cost
savings, enhance water quality and availability, improve infrastructure, and increase resiliency.

OUTREACH
As the development of the WSMP and other major water projects continue to progress,
updates will be provided during scheduled City Council meetings so the community will be
informed.

STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT
Approval of this action advances the Citywide ONE Pleasanton Strategic Plan goal of Investing
in our Environment Strategy 1 - Implement the four-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP)
to complete design and construction of budgeted capital projects and Strategy 4 – Complete
the Water System Master Plan to reflect current and future operations and identify system
improvements and necessary maintenance. These efforts also advance the goal of Funding
our Future, Strategy 3 - Evaluate and update enterprise revenue sources, including utility
Page 157 of 228
