City of Pleasanton—Merritt Property Project
Consistency Checklist 15183 Consistency Checklist

102
geological impacts. General Plan Program 2.1 requires that a geotechnical
study be prepared prior to development approval of structures for human
occupancy. The applicant prepared a Geotechnical Investigation, which
identifies specific site preparation and construction techniques appropriate
for the current site conditions (Appendix E). General Plan Program 2.2
requires that all recommendations of the geotechnical study be
implemented into the project design, which would ensure that environmental
effects would be avoided. Therefore, development of the site as proposed
would not result in any environmental effects that are peculiar to the
proposed project. The proposed project would not result in a new or more
severe adverse impact that was not previously identified in the Housing
Element Update FEIR.
Strong Seismic Ground Shaking
The project site is in a seismically active area subject to very strong ground
shaking in response to a major earthquake on any one of several nearby
faults. The nearest fault to the project site is the Calaveras Fault, located near
the western frontage of the project site. However, no known fault traces cross
the site, and the Geotechnical Investigation found no evidence of faulting at
the project site.
As described above, General Plan Program 2.2 requires that the proposed
project be designed in accordance with CBC requirements and with all
recommendations outlined in the Geotechnical Investigation prepared for
the proposed project (Appendix E). Environmental effects would be avoided
by the imposition of uniformly applied development policies or standards.
Therefore, development of the site as proposed would not result in any
environmental effects that are peculiar to the proposed project. The
proposed project would not result in a new or more severe adverse impact
that was not previously identified in the Housing Element Update FEIR.
a iii), a iv), c) Seismic-related Ground Failure or Unstable Geologic Location
Would the project: a) Directly or indirectly cause potential substantial adverse
effects, including the risk of loss, injury, or death involving:
(iii) Seismic-related ground failure, including liquefaction?
(iv) Landslides?
c) Be located on a geologic unit or soil that is unstable, or that
would become unstable as a result of the project, and
potentially result in on- or off-site landsliding, lateral
spreading, subsidence, liquefaction, or collapse?
