City of Pleasanton—Merritt Property Project
15183 Consistency Checklist Consistency Checklist

61
Special-Status Plant Species
Of the 41 special-status plant species analyzed in the BRA, four species have
the potential to occur on-site based on present habitat types and nearby
CNDDB occurrences. A comprehensive list of special-status plant species with
the potential to occur within and/or adjacent to the site and their habitat
types are referenced in Attachment 2, Table 3 of the BRA (Appendix C). No
targeted botanical surveys were conducted, although general biological
field surveys were conducted throughout the year as referenced above.
None of the four potential special-status plant species were observed during
the general survey. Because of the lack of nearby CNDDB occurrences and
the absence of observations during field surveys, there is a low potential for
these plants to occur on the project site and are not likely to occur; however,
cannot be ruled out since no protocol targeted surveys were conducted.
The analysis under the FEIR remains consistent with the proposed project.
Indirect impacts to special-status plant species could include habitat
degradation because of impacts to water quantity and quality. Subsequent
development consistent with the Housing Element Update could result in
indirect/indirect loss or indirect disturbance of special-status plant or animal
species or their habitats. With adherence to Housing Element Update FEIR
MM BIO-1, a project-specific BRA was conducted by Olberding
Environmental to determine potential project-related impacts to special-
status plant species.7 The proposed project would be required to comply with
the Conditions of Approval set forth by MM BIO-1. The BRA conditions include
targeted botanical surveys to be conducted between April and June, within
1 year of the start of construction, to confirm presence/absence of these
species. With adherence to project-specific recommendations, impacts to
special-status plant species would be less than significant.
Special-status Wildlife Species
Of the 38 special-status plant species analyzed in the BRA, seven species
have the potential to occur on-site based on present habitat types and
nearby CNDDB occurrences. A comprehensive list of special-status wildlife
species with the potential to occur within and/or adjacent to the site is
referenced in Attachment 2, Table 3 of the BRA (Appendix C). Special-status
wildlife species with the potential to occur on-site are further discussed
below.

7 Olberding Environmental, Inc. (Olberding Environmental).
