To
promote trust and transparency, the Community Advisory Board will focus on public safety
issues and engage in productive conversation with leadership at Pleasanton Police Department.
Chief Swing will lead CAB meetings monthly and discussions may cover topics such as mental
health response, use of force, and technology. Members will provide insights while weighing in
on matters of policy and procedure. It was critical the make-up of the CAB reflected the diversity
of our community. Diversity in all areas including race, gender, age, faith, thought, and
experience.
Members of PPD's Traffic Unit, along with members of the Traffic Engineering Office, attend
bi-monthly meeting with the Pleasanton Bicycle Coalition. This coalition is comprised of
Pleasanton residents who frequently ride bicycles in and around our community. Together we
discuss safety concerns to include roadway signage, dedicated bicycle lanes, enforcement, and
education of both motorists and cyclists. Recommendation from all involved parties are also
presented to Pleasanton City Council regarding the aforementioned issues.
The Pleasanton Police Department also conducts community outreach events, such as Coffee
with a Cop and Cone with a Cop. These events allow citizens to have quality time with officers
and management staff to have an open dialect about their traffic and crime concerns within the
city.
