ATTACHMENT 1 RESOLUTION NO. 24- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE’S OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS’ BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE’S PATRICK LEAHY BULLETPROOF VEST PARTNERSHIP IN AN AMOUNT UP TO $40,000 WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Program’s Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) is administering the Patrick Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) that offers grant funds to reimburse law enforcement agencies for up to 50% of the cost of bulletproof vest expenditures for law enforcement officers; and WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton is seeking up to $40,000 from the BJA BVP grant to support the purchase of 39 bulletproof vests between April 1, 2024, and August 31, 2026; and WHEREAS, bulletproof vests have been attributed to saving the lives of over 300 law enforcement officers since 2015; and WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton procedures require the City Council’s approval for all grant applications and funding agreements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER THE FOLLOWING: SECTION 1: Approves the filing of an application with the BJA BVP grant; and SECTION 2: Authorizes the City Manager, or designee, to execute all necessary documents required by the BJA BVP grant program; PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Pleasanton at a regular meeting held on July 16, 2024.
