If the City Council wanted to
pursue adopting a city charter, extensive public outreach would be conducted.

STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT
This item is aligned with the ONE Pleasanton strategic plan goal of Optimizing Our
Organization to support Organizational Effectiveness.

FISCAL IMPACT
If the City Council would like to pursue a charter adoption, there will be election costs
associated with the placement of the charter on a ballot. Costs would be substantially less if
the item were placed in a consolidated general election instead of a special election. Actual
costs will depend on factors such as the number of pages that need to be printed (ballot
length), the number of guides/ballots to be printed, notices, translation services, etc. In addition
to the hard costs, there would be soft costs of staff time associated with the entire process,
which depends on the complexity of the path.

Prepared by: Submitted by: Approved by:

Aarón Zavala, Assistant to
the City Manager
Alexa Jeffress, Deputy City Manager

Gerry Beaudin, City
Manager

Attachments:
None
