City of Pleasanton
475 and 493 St. John Street Mixed-Use Project

60
Conclusion
Impacts would be less than significant, similar to the Final EIR, and no significant new or
substantially increased utilities and service systems impacts would occur compared to those
identified in the Final EIR.
5.14 Wildfire
Impacts Identified in the Certified Final EIR
The Final EIR analyzed impacts related to wildfire in Section 3.7, Hazards and Hazardous Materials.
Impacts of the Barone’s Project
The project site is within a Local Responsibility Area for fire protection services as designated by CAL
FIRE, but is not in or near a state responsibility area or land classified as very high fire hazard
severity zone. The nearest VHFHSZ is located 1.8 miles southwest of the project site (CAL FIRE 2020).
The project would not require roadway closures and would not introduce a significant number of
new vehicles to area roadways. Therefore, the project would not substantially impair an adopted
emergency response plan or emergency evacuation plan, and there would be no impact.
The project site is generally surrounded by urban development and is not adjacent to undeveloped
lands or slopes that would be prone to the uncontrolled spread of a wildfire. The project would not
require the installation or maintenance of roads, fuel breaks, emergency water sources, power lines,
or other utilities that would exacerbate fire risk. Additionally, the project site is generally flat and
surrounded by development and would not expose people or structures to flooding or landslides as
a result of post-fire slope instability.
Because the project site is not located in or near state responsibility areas or lands classified as
VHFHSZs and is in an urbanized area, the project would not result in wildfire impacts. No impact
would occur.
Effects and Mitigation Measures
No new or substantially more severe significant effects would occur to wildfire compared with those
identified in the Final EIR, and no new mitigation measures are necessary.
Conclusion
No significant new or substantially increased wildfire impacts would occur compared to those
identified in the Final EIR.
5.15 Impacts Not Potentially Significant in the Final EIR
The Final EIR considered agriculture and forestry resources and mineral resources in Section 3.14,
Impacts not Potentially Significant, of the DSP EIR.
