Description, Continued:

Constructed pre-1888 this one-story over partial basement, restaurant building is complex in plan. The
wood-frame structure has horizontal wood siding with simple stucco panels present at the front and east
side additions. A small portion of the front façade, around the entry door also features stucco cladding.
The complex roof structure includes a truncated hip section with gable end roofs projecting from the hip
along with several flat and shed roof sections. Asphalt shingles clad the sloped roof sections while roll-
asphalt roofing clads the flat sections. The primary window type is vinyl-sash, six-over-six, single-hung.
Canvas awnings shelter some of the windows near the front of the building. Concrete steps, flanked by
ornate metal railings, lead up to the entry door. The multi-lite wood door is sheltered by a canvas awning.
A dining patio and ramp stand to the northwest of the restaurant. The ramp accesses an entry off the patio.
An interior brick chimney stack is visible at the east side of the structure. Notable features include the flat
roof additions at the southwest corner of the building, the truncated hip roof of the original structure and
the numerous other additions. Alterations to the restaurant include window replacements and numerous
small additions off every façade. The overall condition of the restaurant is good.

The street facing (south) façade of the restaurant features a raised entry, accessed by concrete steps. The
entry door and steps are located to the west side of the structure and are flanked by a single window to the
west and a grouping of five windows to the east. A raised gable roof interrupts the flat roof of the
enclosed porch addition and helps identifying the entrance. The restaurant’s name “Barone’s” is painted
on the gable end. A canvas awning shelters the multi-lite wood door, while another canvas awning wraps
the southeast corner of the building and protects the windows. A dining patio accessed by a wood ramp is
west of the building. Currently the patio and ramp are covered by a series of awnings and tents. A flat
roof addition is set back from the main façade and features similar windows. Below each window on the
main façade is a simple stucco panel surrounded by flat wood trim.

The east façade features a grouping of three multi-lite vinyl-sash windows at the southernmost enclosed
porch addition and a grouping of nine identical windows at the side addition. Below the windows at the
southernmost enclosed porch addition are stucco clad panels surrounded by flat wood trim, while the
grouping of nine windows has panels that feature horizontal wood siding that match the rest of the
cladding on this façade. Wood lattice hides the foundation and raised floor framing of the addition on this
side of the structure. North of the addition is a deck. A shed roof addition, constructed off the back of the
original house, features two openings that are currently covered with metal panels. A hip roof addition
toward the north end of the elevation has a single, multi-panel door at the patio level. A small, shed roof
addition adorns the southern end of this addition. From the patio wooden stairs lead up to a single door
which accesses the shed roof addition at the most northern end of the structure. Both additions are clad in
horizontal wood siding and feature simple wood trim at openings.

The north façade features numerous additions. The east side addition has a pair of multi-lite wood doors
opening onto a raised deck. The shed roof addition features a single opening that is currently covered. A
smaller shed roof addition has no openings but features a giant “B” for Barone’s painted on the wood
siding while the rear addition with a hip roof is centered on this façade. The shed roof addition off the hip
roof section has no openings on this side.

The west façade of the building features a hip roof addition at the southern end. This addition has a multi-
lite fixed vinyl-sash window. The roof of the addition is set below the roofline of the original structure.
