the arts, provide facilities for arts activities, and create an environment where residents can
pursue and enjoy a wide range of cultural opportunities". EBMS strives to provide an outlet
for both young and mature adults to: 1) learn & enjoy new musical repertoire that may not
be available within the public school systems or adult education courses offered by the city
2) provide music education to those enrolled by teaching musical site reading, along with
socials skills of working with others and providing a social outlet for members of the
community 3) provide scholarships within EBMS for those that may not have the financial
means to join extra-curricular activities.
While EBMS is still within its infancy, there has been very strong ties to the Tri - Valley.
Rehearsals, music education, and performances have taken place at : Bothwell Arts Center
(Livermore), Saint Bartholomews Episcopal Church (Livermore), and
Asbury United Methodist Church (Livermore).
We have members that are a part of Harmony Fusion Chorus and other local
church choirs within the Tri - Valley including Lynnewood United Methodist Church (Chancel
Choir) in Pleasanton. To keep EBMS as a community non-profit, goals within the future
would be to partner with the Bankhead Theatre or even the Firehouse
Arts Center.
Describe your agency and provide its mission or purpose statement.
East Bay Musical Society (the Broadway Chorus) is a non-auditioned choir seeking to
enrich the Tri-Valley community (and beyond) through music education and music
enrichment. Regardless of age, if you enjoy singing and music, we encourage you to join
our group and delve into the world of Broadway musicals!
Please describe how you plan to market this project.
Marketing has always been difficult for EBMS, but we are constantly learning and
improving.
Last season, we began marketing with Pleasanton Weekly, Livermore Vine and PeachJar.
The previous grant from the City of Pleasanton provided EBMS the opportunity to advertise
to residents of the Tri-Valley and notify them of the Broadway Chorus.
For 2024/2025, we will continue to market through PeachJar to local youth in the Tri-Valley
as well as reach out to the Choir/Music Directors in person to cast a wider marketing
initiative for our youth choir.
For the General Choir (adults of all ages), we plan on implementing several different
marketing strategies.
(1) - Referral Discount - For our next registration, we are providing a referral discount to
members that bring in NEW (persons that have not previous sang with the Broadway
Chorus) singers.
(2) Merchandise - We have long anticipated to develop merchandise not only to promote
the Broadway Chorus, but to garner cohesity, longevity, and goodwill for the members, staff,
Board of Directors, and future Broadway Chorus participants. T-Shirts, Binders, music
paraphernalia with the EBMS logo.
(3) Flyers / Cards - We will make better use of digital/paper flyers as well as business cards
Page 54 of 116
