participate, thus creating a stronger demand for additional performances. These additional
performances will bring the community together, along with allowing the Tri-Valley and other
local vendors to thrive. EMBS would be able to book more local performance
venues (ie. FireHouse Arts Center / Amador Theatre).
Please describe in detail what the community grant funds will be specifically used for.
With additional funding through the City of Pleasanton, EBMS will be able to expand the
current offerings for each session, increased salaries for employees, increased access to
adequate spaces.
1) Wages/Salary - Through the City of Pleasanton 2023-2024 Grant the Music Director
Salary was able to be increased for Fall 2023. Due to rising minimum wage and the high
inflation (not only in California, but nationally), we have increased the salary for the Music
Director and will use the grant to directly pay for this increase.
2) Rehearsals/Venue - For rehearsals and education, EBMS has been fortunate to have
rental spaces that offered small discounts for non-profits as well as take donations for use
of their space. As EBMS grows, so does the need for new venues that can accommodate
new needs and necessities.
3) Equipment/Rentals - For performances, local agencies (ie. high schools, churches, etc.)
have provided risers and performance venue at a discounted price for the non-profit. As the
Broadway Chorus grows, additional resources will be necessary. Board Members have had
to use our own equipment (ie keyboards, speakers, laptops), and thus additional
funding would be able to provide equipment dedicated to EBMS.
EBMS currently is looking at new venue spaces, which may create a need for rental
equipment that these spaces may/may not provide.
Describe how this project is cost effective and whether the budget is reasonable for the
anticipated result. If this project does not receive funding, what will be the effect on this
project?
This budget would assist EBMS with ONE (1) entire season of musical
education/enrichment/singing. As shown with the budget, each season WAS costing the
organization about $12k in expenses and the non-profit is lucky to break even with $12k of
income (ie. revenue) through registration fees and generous donations from local other
non-profits or direct member donations. With salary increase and inflation, we anticipate
that each season will cost about $15k in expenses.
The anticipated use of the $4000 grant is as follows:
$2000 - increase in wages to musical director ($1000 each musical season)
$1000 - venue rentals (increase in price due to inflation or new venue selection)
$1000 - rentals of risers/choir performance equipment
Page 57 of 116
